International Application and Requirements

Thank you for considering East Los Angeles College - International Student Admissions. The application must be submitted on-line and the supplemental documents can be submitted via email, mail or in-person. Once you submit an on-line application, you will receive an email with your Student ID Number and email address.  You can then email your supplemental documents to elac_iso@elac.edu. Your application will be processed once ALL documents are received. Allow up to two weeks (excluding weekends and holidays) for processing.

Step 2:

Listed below are the supplemental documents needed to be completed in order to be admitted to East Los Angeles College.
  1. Passport copy
  2. Proof of English proficiency such as TOEFL 450 (CBT 133) (IBT 45), IELTS 4.5, iTEP 3.0, STEP Eiken 2A, Duolingo 75, completion of English course at a US high school/college/university or college approved method of English competency
  3. Most recent Academic Records/Transcript/Completion Certificates
  4. Financial Affidavit form
  5. Confidential Financial Statement showing a minimum balance of U.S. $24,000
  6. US $50.00 non-refundable application processing fee. Fee can be paid online through the MyCollege.laccd.edu website or with money order made out to ELAC-ISO.
  7. Guardian Statement - student who is under the age of 18 must have a guardian in the United States (click to view: form)
  8. Copy of current visa and I-94 (Transfer Students Only)
  9. All current and previous status documents (I-20, DS-2019, etc) (Transfer Students Only)
  10. Student Status Verification Form: completed by student (Transfer Students Only)
  11. Unofficial transcripts from all previous US colleges, universities, and high school.  Official transcripts are required to be mailed directly to our college at a later time. (Transfer Students Only)
  12. Personal Statement: explain your educational goal or reason to continue your education (Transfer Students Only)
    • Student who have completed a degree such as an Associate/Bachelor’s degree or higher
    • Student who do not have active F1 student status or the minimum 2.00 grade point average requirement

All documents must be officially translated into English and emailed to: @email

Admission Decision

  1. New students will receive an acceptance letter and an I-20.
  2. Transfer students will receive provisional acceptance letter to be submitted to current school to request for SEVIS record transfer to ELAC.
  3. Students outside the US should contact their local US Consulate/Embassy to arrange for student visa (F-1) processing.

Report to East Los Angeles College

Students should try to arrive 3 weeks before the start of the session applied for.

PART TIME APPLICATION - CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT AT ELAC

  1. Submit the East Los Angeles College International Student On-Line Application
  2. Submit the Part Time Application  
  3. Email the following documents to the International Student Program via email to elac_iso@elac.edu 
  • Part time permission letter from your school that states our school's name, the semester you want to take, and the classes you are approved to take. 
  • Copies of passport, visa, I-20
  • $50 application fee; For online fee payment, go to MyCollege.laccd.eduClick on the Finances Menu or Student Account icon and click on Make a Payment.  Email a copy of the payment receipt/confirmation.

Please Note:

For prerequisite clearances, email a copy of your transcript to hernanmv@elac.edu  

Applicants are not able to add classes online once classes have begun. A permission code must be issued by the ELAC instructor in order to add online.

INTERNATIONAL ONLINE CREDIT COURSE APPLICATION

Study ELAC courses that are University transferable from your home country. This can be done either concurrently while in foreign high school (home country) or after high school graduation.

International Online Credit Course Application Steps

  1. Submit the East Los Angeles College International Student Online Application  Once you receive a confirmation email with an ELAC student ID number and ELAC Student email address, continue the process below.
  2. Email the following documents to: elac_iso@elac.edu

  • One year of most recent academic record (high school or college/university)
  • Copy of government identification.  For example, passport photo page
  • Proof of English proficiency such as TOEFL 450 (CBT 133) (IBT 45), IELTS 4.5, iTEP 3.0, STEP Eiken 2A, Duolingo 75, completion of English course at a US high school/college/university or college approved method of English competency
  • $50 application fee; For online fee payment, go to MyCollege.laccd.eduClick on the Finances Menu or Student Account icon and click on Make a Payment.  Email a copy of the payment receipt/confirmation.
  • Minor Students Only (under 18 by course start date): Concurrent form signed by parents and current high school unless high school graduate.  CLICK HERE for form

Deadline for Application Completion and Program Acceptance

Spring Semester: Jan 5th  (four weeks before start of term)

Fall Semester: July 27th (four weeks before start of term)

Processing Timeline for Acceptance and Clearance and Course Registration Steps

Once a student applicant emails all required documents listed above to: elac_iso@elac, the International Student Office will email a Welcome Letter for the international Online Credit Program to the students ELAC student email address.  Online students should then:

1. Meet with International Student Counselor for course planning  and prerequisites clearances. Click on the following link and choose International Student Office: https://elac.craniumcafe.com/michellehernandez88

2. Course Registration: following the counselor's Student Education Plan (SEP), students should register for classes through the LACCD student portal (LINK) well before the start of the course. Note: Applicants are not able to add classes online once classes have begun. A permission code must be issued by the ELAC instructor in order to add online.

Please Note:

1. No I-20 or Student F-1 visa will be issued.  Students enrollment is only for ELAC online credit courses to be taken from their home country.

2. Course Tuition for Online Credit Course is the same rate as in-person credit courses.

3. Some Online Credit Courses are Asynchronous (recorded lectures with no live meeting requirements) and some are Synchronous (Live meeting based USA timezone)

4. Most Courses meet ELAC graduation requirements and most are transferable to Four-Year Universities.  Please review each course transferability in the College Catalog.

5. All drop deadlines for Online Credit Courses are the same as In-person classes.  Students failure to drop course before deadlines can result in tuition due, W (Withdrawal Grade) or course failure. It is the student's responsibility to be aware of all deadlines: Academic Calendar

6. Online Credit Courses appear on ELAC Official Transcript
