Mission Statement
The Basic Needs Center provides centralized support services for students facing basic needs insecurities. By actively building links and collaborating with campus and community partners, we advocate for student-centered solutions that are responsive to an individual’s overall well-being, so students are empowered to successfully matriculate through East Los Angeles College and beyond.
Welcome to East Los Angeles College Basic Needs Center we offer various resources that are available to our students on campus. We offer assistance with LA Metro GoPass distribution, emergency housing and shelter support, personal care, hygiene kits, and more. Drop by our office. Personal Hygiene
East Los Angeles College students may apply for personal hygiene items once per semester prerequisites are enrollment and East home campus.

Mental Health
UCLA STAND Mental Health Services
Remote and confidential digital wellness program free* for most ELAC students. You can access services through your desktop, laptop, tablet or smart phone.
STAND is an acronym for the Screening & Treatment for Anxiety & Depression. Use STAND to keep track of your mental wellness; engage in digital wellness modules & peer coaching; get clinical care when needed.
STAND is a partnership between UCLA, the LA County Department of Mental Health, and the ELAC Student Health Center.

The Student Health Center offers a variety of services to support your mental health. Students are encouraged to take advantage of these options:
Individual therapy
Individual therapy sessions are available via telehealth with therapists through our medical provider, Via Care. To make an appointment, please call the on-campus clinic at (323) 265-8651.
Transportation
Metro Tap Card
The Basic Needs Center offers the distribution of Metro tap cards for students who are currently enrolled. If you wish to pick one up stop by with your student ID. We encourage you to apply below before pick up.
