In June 2023, the ACCJC voted to reaffirm accreditation for the College after reviewing ELAC's Institutional Self-Evaluation Report and the findings of the peer review team report from their site visit from March 8-10, 2023. The Commission recognized the exemplary performance of the College for its committment to and significant evidence of continuous improvement. There were no compliance issues or recommendations for improving institutional effectiveness. Details are included in the following documents:
In August 2022, the College submitted its Institutional Self-Evaluation Report to the ACCJC as a part of a comprehensive review that is conducted every seven years. The College will host a visiting team from March 8-10, 2023.
In March 2020, the College submitted its Midterm Report addressing the Commission's improvement recommendations, self-selected actionable improvement plans, and quality focus essays from the College's Institutional Self-Evaluation Report.
In June 2020, the ACCJC determined that the College's progress was appropriate and accepted the report.
In October 2017, the College submitted the Follow-Up Report, addressing the three compliance recommendations made to the College and the eight compliance recommendations made to the District.
In January 2018, the ACCJC found that East Los Angeles College addressed its compliance recommendations, corrected deficiences, and currently meets all Standards. As such, the ACCJC has reaffirmed ELAC's accreditation for the remainder of the cycle. A Midterm Report is due March 15, 2020.
East Los Angeles College underwent a comprehensive review in March 2016. Based on the College’s Institutional Self Evaluation Report and accompanying evidence, the Report prepared by the visiting team, the written response submitted by the College, and the presentation made to the ACCJC by President Martinez, the Commission reaffirmed the College’s accreditation for 18 months with a follow-up report due on October 1, 2017. Reaffirmation for 18 months indicates the College is in substantial compliance with the Accreditation Standards.
