DSP&S Services
DSPS determines reasonable accommodations on a case by case basis, by reviewing the disability verification documentation and an interactive process with each student. Following are some of the supportive services which may be approved as reasonable accommodations, depending on the nature of the student's educational limitations, to assure access to educational activities at East Los Angeles College:
- Counseling (vocational and academic)
- Registration/Enrollment assistance
- Note-taking services
- Sign language interpreters
- High Tech Center (computer accessibility)
- Sign language interpreters
- Learning Disability Assessment
- Test-taking accommodations
- Tutoring/Individualized
- Liaison with on-campus and off-campus programs
- Liaison with Department of Rehabilitation
- Instructional material-braille, large print, e-text, etc.
- Adaptive computer software & hardware
- Smartpens or recorders
- Text enlargers
- Textbook scanner/reader
- Voice-assisted computer programs & more
The process for enrolling in DSP&S and authorization for support services requires that students make an appointment with one of our disability specialists. Appointments can be made in person or by calling our office during our open office hours. Hours vary by semester.
What to bring to your intake appointment:
- Student ID number
- Verification of Disability, such as an IEP, medical diagnosis verification, etc.
- Transcripts from other colleges (if applicable)
