Windows 11 What You Need to Know.
Upgrading to a new operating system can be an exciting yet daunting task. Windows 11 brings a host of new features, performance improvements, and an updated interface. However, there’s a crucial step that should never be overlooked: backing up your data. In this article, we will delve into how to effectively back up your Windows 10 machine before making the leap to Windows 11, ensuring that your data and settings are secure. And although IT does their best to ensure that all of your data is safely backed up we ask that you take the extra step to ensure that your data is safe before any issues may arise.
Why Backup Before Upgrading?
Data Security: The primary reason for backing up your computer before an upgrade is to safeguard your data. Although upgrading to Windows 11 is generally smooth and safe, issues can arise. A backup ensures that your files are safe.
Avoiding Data Loss:
Upgrading your operating system can sometimes lead to data loss if not done correctly. Backing up your system can help you restore your files and settings to their original state before the upgrade. Knowing that you have a complete backup of your system brings peace of mind.
Preparing for Backup:
Before creating a backup, take some preparatory steps to ensure a smooth process.
Check Available Storage Space of New Location:
It is recommended to back up your files to your SSO account (OneDrive). If you need assistance, please submit a ticket to elac-techsupport@laccd.edu.
You can also back up your files to personal external drives. Please check the drive's capacity before backing up.
Delete Unnecessary Files:
Clean up your system by removing unnecessary files and downloads. This not only frees up space but also helps streamline your backup process.
Organize Important Files:
While backing up your entire system is the safest approach, consider organizing critical files into specific folders to make the job easier.
What to Back-up?
