URGENT: Fraudulent Emails Regarding Financial Aid Disbursement

Wednesday, 10/23/24 Fraudulent e-mail sent to LACCD Students

Earlier today, a fraudulent email was sent to many LACCD students entitled “Financial Assistance Department {Disbursement} of the Los Angeles Community College District System ADMIN.” The fraudulent email pretends to include a link to “www.LACCD.edu/financialaid-management”, but actually links to a Google Form that asks for their LACCD email and password and BankMobile email and password. Students should not complete the form. If they completed the form, they should change their LACCD password and BankMobile password as soon as possible.
This is a reminder that an email is frequently fraudulent if:

  • It says something bad will happen if you don’t go to a website right away and provide your email address and password. This scam says there is a problem sending financial aid.

  • It offers employment that sounds too good to be true.

In order to protect yourself, please:
Never enter your LACCD password into any web form where you received the link via email, even if that email came from an LACCD account.

  • If anyone has received such an email and entered their District email password or BankMobile password into a website, they should change their password(s) immediately.

  • If you have any questions at all about any email you received asking for your password, please forward it to @email for assistance.

Notice of BankMobile Phishing Scam sent to some LACCD Students

On Monday, 6/3/24, a phishing email was sent from a compromised LACCD student account to many other LACCD students.  The message had a fake link to www.vibeaccount.com that led to a Google form that requested personal information and passwords.  All students are in the process of being notified that they should call the BankMobile fraud department at 866-309-7454 and contact their college financial aid office if they completed the form

Full Term Courses

A student will receive a full refund of the enrollment fee up to the refund deadline (see semester calendar). Thereafter, no refund is authorized, except when college action to cancel or reschedule a class necessitates the drop. Please note that after the refund deadline there will be absolutely no refunds.

Please consult your instructor or Admissions Office (E1 105) regarding drop dates. Dates may vary, therefore, please make a note of the dates given. There will be no refunds after that time, unless a class was cancelled or rescheduled by the college administration.

Refunds of tuition paid by non-resident students enrolled in full term or short term courses are governed by the same policies, respectively, as are indicated above. A non-resident student who formally drops or otherwise separates from part or all of his/her enrollment may request a refund of previously paid non-resident tuition in a accordance with these policies. Such requests must be made in writing on a form provided by the Fiscal Office. The date used for non-resident refund purposes is the date on which such requests are filed and time stamped, regardless of when separation may have occurred. All non-resident refunds will be made by mail.

Refunds for parking permits are given for permits returned to the Fiscal Office on or before the deadline date. (Deadline date is the same date as the last day to drop without having to pay fees. It is the student's responsibility to be aware of all deadlines. Please check the student portal for specific deadlines. The academic calendar on the class schedule or the ELAC website lists the dates general for most classes but not all, check the student portal portal for specific deadlines. Classes less than 16 weeks have different add/drop deadline dates). There is NO refund for Parking Permits that are picked up or NOT picked up from the ELAC Fiscal Office after the last day to drop without having to pay fees (See Academic Calendar)

Students are eligible for a Health fee refund if the student withdraws entirely from the college by dropping all of their active units by the refund deadline (Deadline date is the same date as the last day to drop without having to pay fees). Students are eligible to receive an ASU refund if the sticker was never issued to the student. Once the sticker is issued, it is non-refundable.
