A World of Peace
Join us for the 50th Chicano Moratorium Committee Presents: A WORLD OF PEACE, a vibrant celebration honoring the legacy of the Chicano Moratorium of August 29, 1970. This event will take place on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 11 AM to 4 PM at the East LA College G3 Auditorium, located at 1301 Avenida Cesar Chavez. Enjoy free entry and free parking, but please note that audience capacity is limited. This commemorative gathering will feature a lineup of inspiring speakers and captivating performances. Attendees can look forward to live music from:
- Los Jornaleros del Norte
- Jesus “Chuy” Perez - Danza Divina
- Officially Frosty - Scrizzy Santana
- Cui Cui Rangel & Her Ensemble
In addition to the performances, there will be an array of food and booths showcasing local culture and community resources. This event marks the 54th Commemoration of the August 29, 1970 Moratorium, a pivotal moment in the Chicano civil rights movement that protested the disproportionate casualties of Mexican Americans in the Vietnam War. It serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggles for justice and equality.
