How do you know when you "make it" in the museum world? What are the unique pressures added to this journey when you are coming from a First Generation and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) background?
Jennelyn Tumalad, independent curator and program specialist, will lead a dialogue about her journey as a First Generation BIPOC museum professional trying to make it in both the New York and Los Angeles museum worlds, and share what she wishes she knew then. Participants will be guided through practical considerations for when they are trying to land their dream internship or job as well as how to recognize and preserve their power for when they do get hired.

Join us for a one-hour informational and application-focused workshop led by MSCP coordinators. Learn about local, as well as national undergraduate and post-baccalaureate museum and library internship programs. Participants will gain the know-how to confidently apply for their next internship and jumpstart their career in museums and libraries!

This student-led, dialogue-driven event will focus on the role of the museum within community today. Participants will be invited to engage in conversation about the meaning of "community" in order to envision how community-centered cultural spaces can better reflect the local neighborhoods they serve.
Sonic Terrains in Latinx Art Opening Reception
6:00pm - 8:00pm at the Vincent Price Art Museum
Sonic Terrains in Latinx Art is a major exhibition of Latinx sound practices, extending from the early avant-gardism of sound art to new interdisciplinary art forms. This exhibition, which features an intergenerational roster of 30 artists and collectives, aims to establish new directions in the field of Latinx art history by foregrounding the conceptual and experimental nature of Latinx sound practioners.
