East Los Angeles College is here to support students with dependent children to achieve academic success and complete their degree program. We provide a wide range of state, on-campus, and off-campus student parent services and resources.

- California Earned Income Tax Credit (CITC or CalEITC)
- Students may be eligible for up to $3,417 for tax year 2022 as a working family or individual earning up to $30,000 per year.
- Women, Infants, and Children Program (WIC)
- Helps families across the state by providing nutrition education, breastfeeding support, healthy foods, and referrals to health care and other community services.
- Young Child Tax Credit (YCTC)
- Provides a credit up $1,083 per tax return for Californians who qualify for CalEITC and have a child under 6 years old.
- California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs)
- Provides cash aid and support to eligible students who live with a child or children.
- Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE)
- Brings additional benefits to Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) students who are parenting, receiving CalWORKs/TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) benefits, and are working towards getting a degree, transferring to a four-year university, or getting their credentials.
- Child Development Center
- Offers services for student-parents with children 12 months-4 years of age while attending ELAC.
- Student Housing
- Assists students by finding resources in the community for unhoused students who are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity.
- Foster & Kinship Care
- Supports former or current foster youth between ages 17-30 who want to go to college and pursue academic, career, and personal goals.
- NextUp Foster Youth Program
- Supports current and former foster youth who want to attend college.
- CalFresh (Food Stamps)
- Helps low-income households increase their food-buying power to meet their household’s nutritional needs.
- CalWORKs Association
- Supports parenting students who are changing their own lives, two generations at a time.
- Department of Public Social Services
- Provides assistance to low-income families and individuals.
- LIFT
- Build families’ well-being, financial strength, and social connections to lift two generations at once.
- Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services
- Provides assistance to parents for preventive and support services.
- Neighborhood Legal Services Inc.
- Provides legal services in housing, public benefits, people with disabilities, and family services.
- The People’s Guide to Welfare Health and Other Services
- The standard guidebook of public social services for people working in the field, people in need of help, and those just helping their neighbors.
- Title IX (Pregnant or Parenting)
- Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex--including pregnancy and parental status--in educational programs and activities.
- Western Center on Law and Poverty
- Fights in courts, cities, counties, and in the Capitol to secure housing, health care, and a strong safety net for Californians with low incomes.
