Institution-Set Standards

East Los Angeles College has established a set of six measures for college-wide reporting as institution-set standards for student achievement. A "standard" is a minimum level of acceptable performance. Should the college fall below a standard, an institution-wide response would occur.

The six measures, and their corresponding standards, are summarized in the table below.

Institution-set Standard

Course success

Course retention

Fall-to-fall persistence for first-time students

 *Available summer 2016

Number of degrees awarded

Number of certificates awarded

Number of transfers

The six measures above are all directly related to the college’s Strategic Plan and are aligned to the College's Mission Statement, via “Increasing student success and academic excellence through student-centered instruction, student-centered support services, and dynamic technologies.”

Discipline and Program-Set Standards

Each of the College's disciplines and programs have standards for outcomes such as success, retention, and completers.  The dashboard below provides an interactive way of exploring recent outcomes against these standards.

Discipline and program-set standards were set by the department owning the discipline or program during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 Annual Update processes.  The submitted standards were analyzed by OIEA, and when appropriate, the department was asked to revise the standard. All standards were reviewed by the Strategic Planning Committee in Fall 2015. Standards for "Institutional" programs are proposed, and not yet  approved.
