CALIFORNIA COUNCIL FOR VETERANS AFFAIRS INC

The agency provides advocacy, education services, employment services, shelter and support services for homeless female veterans and their families. Services are targeted, but not restricted to people who live in South Central Los Angeles. The program provides advocacy for veterans and their families to help them obtain veterans benefits and services to which they are entitled.

CALIFORNIA VETERANS ASSISTANCE FOUNDATION

The agency provides transitional housing for homeless or at risk of becoming homeless veterans who live in the Los Angeles County area. The transitional housing is located in Bakersfield. There are no geographic restrictions.

NEW DIRECTIONS INC

The agency provides residential treatment for substance abuse for homeless male and female veterans, including those who have dual-diagnosis. Services are provided at five locations (see site list for details). There are no geographic restrictions.

OCEAN PARK COMMUNITY CENTER - ADMINISTRATION

The agency administers a variety of services including counseling, clothing, emergency food, homeless support services, shelter and volunteer opportunities for people who live in the Santa Monica and West Los Angeles areas. SALVATION ARMY HAVEN PROGRAM - BLDG. 212

The agency provides employment services, housing services, residential treatment for substance abuse and shelter for homeless veterans in Los Angeles County. The Alpha Center Program services include emergency, short-term housing for up to 14 days for up to 45 male and female homeless veterans. Each resident is provided a hygiene care kit, meals, showers, bed, linen, and a locker. Some clothing is available.

WEINGART CENTER ASSOCIATION

The agency provides shelter services for homeless veterans in Los Angeles County. Services include transitional housing/shelter services. The Veterans Program is designed to help veterans break their cycle of homelessness by helping them obtain an income, save money, and find permanent housing. The average length of stay is two years. Homeless veterans must be medically stable, have their addictions under control, and be willing to work at the program. Veterans with any discharge status but dishonorable are eligible for services.

VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA - GREATER LOS ANGELES - WEST COVINA OUTREACH AND ACCESS CENTER

VETERANS ADMINISTRATION GREATER LOS ANGELES HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

The agency provides housing services for veterans in Los Angeles County. Services include housing search assistance through the VASH Program. VASH staff assesses the veteran's housing needs and provide referrals to local transitional housing locations.

UNITED STATES VETERANS INITIATIVE

The agency provides transitional shelter services to homeless veterans in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Transitional shelter services are available for unemployed veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The services function as a residential welfare to work program with four areas of focus: employment; sobriety maintenance, relapse prevention, and securing stability in the home and work place.

SINGLE ROOM OCCUPANCY HOUSING CORPORATION

The Veterans Transitional Program operates 60 units of transitional, sober-living housing for homeless veterans. Most participants are referred by the Veterans Administration and are required to have a minimum of 60 days of sobriety upon entrance.
