Learning Assistance Center
The mission of the Learning Assistance Center at East Los Angeles College is to help ELAC students become independent, responsible learners. To this end, we do our best to provide each student with the help he or she needs. the following services are currently available:
Tutoring is provided in several ways:
- Walk-In every hour: Math, English, Life Science, Social Science, Child Development, Reading, Writing, Basic Skills, Internet and other college level courses
- Small Groups
- By Appointment
- Computer Programs
Tutoring takes places Monday - Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.; Fridays 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; and Saturdays 10:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
The Learning Assistance Center also houses the Computer Assisted Instruction Lab (CAI) which is equipped with computers with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2013 for word-processing and internet access. Printers (black & white and color), scanners and other equipment are available. Available software programs include:
- Plato for various subjects, including math, science, reading, writing, exam preparation, and more
- Adobe Creative Cloud: Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop
- Nutrition (Diet Analysis)
- Respiratory Therapy
