Vice President Oscar Valeriano

Congratulations 2008 Graduation Candidates!

Your moment has finally arrived. On behalf of the faculty, staff and administration of East Los Angeles College, we all congratulate each of you on your academic accomplishments. This year’s theme exemplifies how “Education opens our eyes to a world we cannot see.”

Your journey has not been easy; each of you has had your own problems and personal sacrifices. As your family and friends watch you walk on that stage to receive there cognition you well deserve it’s also an accomplishment of their own dreams they have for you. For some you have the academic certificate to begin your career. For others it’s the initial steps to continue your transfer dreams.

We are confident that what you have learned and accomplished at East Los Angeles College will continue to give you that academic success throughout your life.

You now have the basic understanding of higher education and your future lies before you. While many of you will take different paths towards a brighter future the ELAC community will always be part of you. We wish you the best and know what ever step you take in life you will be successful.

The campus community eagerly awaits your participation in our graduation ceremony on Friday, May 30, 2008. Make sure all your family and friends attend the ceremony to share in your achievement. My personal prayers are with each of you and I thank you for showing me the value that education can be the tool of change for everyone.

Sincerely,

Oscar Valeriano,
Interim Vice President of Student Services
