Important Notice from the East Los Angeles College Bookstore

December 17, 2007

Dear Students;

As you are aware the campus is undergoing major changes with many of us in new locations. The Bookstore and Fiscal Office has moved to the D7 Building behind the Swim Stadium.

Because of the new Bookstore’s restricted size and limitations on loading the floor in the new building, we have to alter the way books are distributed. This will start for the Winter Intersession and continue indefinitely. Books will be held in containers located adjacent to the Bookstore and distributed to students from these containers.

The process will entail students coming into the store and paying for their books. After receiving a receipt the student will go outside to the containers to pick up their books. During peak times the wait in both these lines could be considerable. We believe students can save time by using one of alternative ways of purchasing books. If you decide to come into the store to pick up your book, it will save a lot of time if you know the title of your book and the USBN number. You can get the ISBN number the ELAC web site and click on ELAC Bookstore or go to http://bookstore.elac.edu

These alternative means include:

1. On-line book ordering – Go to East Los Angeles College web site, click on the ELAC Bookstore Quick Link or go to http://bookstore.elac.edu, order your book(s), and pick it (them) up the next day.

2. Telephone orders – Call (323) 265-8720, place your order and pick up your book the next day. If you are unsure of which book to order, the telephone customer service person can help you determine the right book for your class.

3. In-person express line with next day pick-up – If you are able to pick up your book the next day, you may go to our express/next day pick-up line in the store, purchase your book by cash, check or credit card and pick up your book the next day.

For orders being picked up the next day, we request the order be placed by 4:00 p.m. to assure we can process the order in a timely manner. Using one of the three alternative methods for purchasing book will save students a lot of time.

Bookstore hours for the Spring Semester beginning Monday, February 4, 2008:

Monday thru Thursday	January 28 to January 31 – 7:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.
Friday	February 1 – 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Saturday	February 2 – 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Monday thru Thursday	February 4 to February 7 – 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Friday	February 8 – 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Saturday	February 9 – 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Monday thru Thursday	February 11 to February 14 – 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Friday	February 15 – Holiday - Closed
