CONSTRUCTION ALERT

August 7, 2014

Dear ELAC Employee:

ELAC CAMPUS WILL BE ON A COMPLETE POWER OUTAGE/SHUTDOWN ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 23, 2014.

THE NEED FOR A HIGH VOLTAGE ENGINEERING REPAIR AND TESTING WORK FOR THE CHILLER OF THE CENTRAL POWER PLANT IS UNAVOIDABLE.

ELAC CAMPUS WILL HAVE A GENERAL POWER OUTAGE FROM APPROXIMATELY 5:00 A.M. TO 4:00 P.M. ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 23, 2014.

WE ARE ASKING THAT ALL CAMPUS PROGRAM DIRECTORS AND MANAGERS, AS WELL AS SHERIFF'S  STATION AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY STAFF TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION FOR ANY PLANNED ACTIVITIES.

Please note that all computers and related equipment (printers, scanners, refrigerators, etc) needs to be powered off and unplug from the wall outlet. This will prevent a potential shortage or damage at the restart of power.

WE EXPECT THAT ALL WORK ON THE CHILLER OF THE CENTRAL PLANT WILL BE DONE AT THE END OF THE WORKING DAY ON AUGUST 23, 2014.

WE APPRECIATE YOUR KIND COOPERATION AND CONSIDERATION ON THIS MATTER.

June 18,2014

April 30, 2014

Beginning Friday, May 2, 2014 through mid August, 2014 the contractor, Pinner (same contractor building Student Success and Retention Center) will be building the Entry Plaza project which is located at the Cesar Chavez side of the campus between E1 & G1 buildings.  The west entry of the G1 Building will be cordoned-off to not allow entry from the west side of the building.  The doors will not be locked, so as to allow emergency exit out of the building.  Entries into the G1 building will only be allowed from the south, east and north sides of the building.

The reason the contractor will require the temporary closer of the west side of the G1 building is so that the existing asphalt ground cover within this area can be removed and replaced with concrete. Some grading activities will also be occurring along with the construction of stairs from the entry plaza onto the G3 grade level.
