ELAC FACULTY AND STUDENT

The Emergency First Responder training course is designed to provide lifesaving skills and medical knowledge. This is very similar to an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program. Individuals who would greatly benefit from this training program are healthcare majors, law enforcement officers, educators, childcare providers, or anyone who would be most likely be first on scene of an emergency. In addition this course provides a very strong foundation to enhance medical knowledge for those who are preparing to enroll in an EMT Training Program.

Many school districts offer job opportunities that require Advanced First Aid and Basic Cardiac Life Support Training. An example is an assistant to the school nurse, aiding an injured or ill student. The American Red Cross also hires individuals with medical training to assist them in disasters.

Upon successful completion of the First Responder course, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion from East Los Angeles College and American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider card. After completion of this course the student is qualified to sit for the National First Responder Certification Examination by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
