What is equity-minded competence? According to the Center for Urban Education
- Intrapersonal Awareness: Adopting a cultural humility approach that constantly examines how our ideas, assumptions, various identities, and values influence our a). teaching approach b). relationships/connection with students so as to build authentic caring relationships.
- Inclusive Pedagogy: Selecting and organizing course content that is meaningful, transparent, and invites collaboration, and teaching in a way that is relevant and provides timely support to all students.
- Inclusive Environment: Promoting a sense of belonging by cultivating a shared-power, growth-mindset climate that focuses on students' assets and forms of capital. Engagement in interdisciplinary and global
- Reflective Practices: Engaging in reflective practices to critically examine racial and ethnic consequences of practices our own ideas, cultures, assumptions, and values, and how those beliefs impact our pedagogy and interaction with others.
