ELAC to Host Welcome Days for High School SeniorsPosted: Feb/26/2020 11:01 AM
Monterey Park, CA – East Los Angeles College (ELAC) will be hosting over two thousand local high school seniors on campus to participate in our ELAC Welcome Days throughout the Spring 2020 semester. The purpose of these visits is to introduce the high school seniors to the ELAC campus, the LA College Promise team, and to participate in workshop sessions with the ELAC Financial Aid and Counseling departments.
The Welcome Days are being coordinated by our First Year Center and will be held every Wednesday and Friday for the next five weeks (2/26 – 3/26/20). Three high schools will visit each day and will participate in three sessions to help get them prepared for attending college.
The first of these sessions is with the Counseling department where seniors will learn about what to expect in their first year at college and how to find the right subjects to study. The next session is with the Financial Aid department where seniors will learn about resources available like College Promise to help pay for college tuition. The final session is called the “Be Connected” session which will be a time for the seniors to learn about the culture of ELAC and all services that The First Year Center has to offer students so they can Be Seen, Be Heard & Be Connected to ELAC. All seniors will also receive a custom ELAC t-shirt.
