Monterey Park, CA – The ELAC men’s and women’s basketball teams have both made the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) state playoffs this season. Both teams will be playing this Saturday, February 29 as the 13th seeded Women’s team travel to Glendale College and the 2nd seeded Men’s team will be playing at home against Saddleback College. Both games tip off at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for the men’s game at ELAC are $12 for General Admission, and $8 for children under age 12, Senior Citizens age 60 and over, and all ELAC students and staff (with ID).
Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams has consistently finished in the top 10 in the state for basketball over the last decade. This has been in large part due to their head coaches John Mosley and Bruce Turner and the high level of excellence they expect from their players. They are both more than coaches to their players, they are mentors and teach their players how to be the best versions of themselves both on and off the court.
Coach Mosley is in his 8th season leading the men’s basketball team and has a 187-50 career record. The Huskies have made the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) state playoffs in each of those 8 seasons and appeared in ELAC’s only championship game in the 2014-2015 season. This season his team has a record of 27-1 and is poised to return to the CCCAA Championship game.
Coach Turner is in his 15th season as the head coach of the women’s basketball team and in that time the lady Huskies have made two Elite Eight appearances, two final four appearances, and a State Championship in 2016. Coach Turner has over 200 career wins but his proudest achievement is that the ELAC women’s basketball program has a 92% transfer rate since he began as head coach in 2006.
