ELAC Will Award Nearly 4,000 Degrees, Certificates at 2019 Commencement
MONTEREY PARK, Calif.— East Los Angeles College will confer nearly 4,000 associates degrees and certificates of achievement at the College’s commencement ceremony. Thousands of people will be joining graduates at Weingart Stadium on the ELAC campus Tuesday, June 4 at 5:00 p.m.
ELAC’s Student Speaker is Kaitlyn Gonzalez, who will be transferring to California State University, Los Angeles this upcoming fall. Kaitlyn has been an ELAC student for the past 3 years and during her time on campus; she came across multiple opportunities that inspired her to become a successful student and person. Kaitlyn worked for the ELAC Outreach and Recruitment department, was featured on the Writer Society’s podcast, The East Side Rose, and was a vital part of the national award winning ELAC Speech and Debate team.
ELAC’s first female football player Toni Harris will be singing the national anthem to kick off the graduation. The ELAC symphonic band will be led by music instructor and 2020 Grammy Nominee for Music Educator Jesus “Chuy” Martinez.
The morning of the commencement ceremony President Marvin Martinez will join graduating students for the annual Graduating Student Breakfast. This is a chance for graduates to spend time with their peers and celebrate their academic accomplishments. It held in the Quad between the E3 and E7 buildings from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
